The Linux Plumbers 2015 Boot, Init, and Config track focuses on system bringup.
System bringup is a critical part of the lifecycle of the system.
There are many different ways to configure the kernel based on how its
going to be used. This miniconference will focus on securely bringing up
linux in containers and embedded systems - and ways to improve size,
timing, and interfaces with other system components.

Configuring linux to run in containers
Cloud computing and containerization trends are influencing how a Linux based
OS is put together - from how software components are provisioned and configured to how the system initializes.
Tinification
Looking at ways build and configure linux to minimize Kernel size and bloat.
Tuning systemd for embedded/fastboot
Looking at improving support for customized boot sequences, including secure boot, kdbus, and proper allocation of resources in size constrained spaces.
Research topics in fastboot
- Initializing memory pool off of fastpath
- Deferring initcalls for certain subsystems
- Effective use of parallelism and multicore in system bringup
Modern, scalable network based operating system installation

The actual schedule of the 2015 Boot, Init, and Config Plumbers Micro Conference will be determined once we figure out where the critical mass is, and make sure the sessions align with it. The following individuals have agreed to present if their session lines up with the themes emerging.
This is a good place to record notes from your session. All too often, if notes were not written down, the session might as well not have happened.
