The Linux Plumbers Conference 2009 is located in Portland, Oregon.

Flying in

Attendees should fly into Portland International Airport (PDX), located less than 15 miles from the conference venue. From the airport, you can rent a car, take public transit, or take a taxi to the Portland Marriott Waterfront Hotel (the 2009 conference venue).

We recommend you take public transit from the airport to the hotel. It will take 50 minutes to ride the red line MAX to the hotel. You can purchase an adult all-zone 2-hour pass for $2.30 from the ticket machines on the MAX platform. Ticket machines take credit cards, coins, and dollar bills. Be warned that the ticket machines will give you change in $1 coins.

Taking the train or bus

You can also reach Portland via Amtrak train or Grey Hound bus. You will arrive at Union Station in NW Portland. Fareless square extends to Union Station, so you can ride the bus to the conference hotel for free. Just say, “Fareless,” when you get on the bus (or nothing at all if you're feeling shy)
